The following news is not related with Newmont, Yanacocha and Cajamarca, but shows that there are kind of same problems between big companies and the local people worldwide:

BETWEEN five and 10 people were injured at a community protest (…)at Modikwa platinum mine owned by African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and an Anglo Platinum subsidiary, the Business Report said on Monday.

People were injured fleeing from tear gas and rubber bullets fired by police, who were called in to quell the protests. (…)

“The community is willing to sit down and negotiate, but the mine must stop its invasion. It must respect community land rights” (…) (said  a spokesman of the community.)
